What You’ll Do

The Director/Sr. Director provides leadership, direction, and technical expertise to the Global Packaging Engineering group (Technical Operations) in their areas of specialization (i.e., Packaging Technology, Package Design, Packaging Engineering, Serialization, Product Security, Packaging Process Development, Labeling etc.). This role is involved in the development, launch and life cycle management of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components and/or equipment maintenance and engineering projects. You will lead the development, design, specification setting, testing, implementation, and commercial support of packaging activities at external and/or internal manufacturing and packaging sites. You will lead change control, non-conformances and CAPA activities working with Quality and other Global operations and provide coaching and guidance to junior members of the team.

You will lead the activities associated with Artwork development (in concert with stakeholders in Regulatory, Customer Access and Communications) and change management. This role will be the company’s lead for all activities associated with compliance to the US DSCSA and EU FMD. You will establish this program and track and trace database for all products – including biologics and small molecules. This role will lead new package introduction / commercial launch and serialization/aggregation capabilities. You will manage packaging & artwork specifications and change management as well as packaging process development and optimization. You will lead the identification and qualification of alternate sources for packaging components and oversee those who manage and execute all aspects of a project including but not limited to: Packaging Component Specifications, Bill of Materials, Technical Protocols and Reports, Validation Master Plan, Shipping Studies and Regulatory Filing Support Documentations.

You will work with external contract packaging networks and internal packaging sites to create or enhance packaging capabilities, needed capacity, quality, and quantity of packaged goods. You will also partner with sites to ensure quality in product packaging and drive elimination of customer complaints relating to packaging. This role will build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external partner organizations including (but not limited to) Component Suppliers, Contract packagers, Program Strategy Leads, Quality Assurance, External Manufacturing and CMC. You will lead, triage, and resolve technical investigations and approve regulatory and technical documentation. You will also recruit and manage external resources, such as, Consultants and Contractors, as needed to deliver projects.

This is not your standard Commercial Supply Chain leadership position. This is a highly visible role and of significant impact to the company. We are on a critical mission to bring quality solutions to patients at a fraction of the price. This role will help us drive forward towards that pinnacle goal of truly putting patients first.

 

 

Your Superpowers

You have a minimum of 15 years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry with at least 8 years of related experience managing technical programs such as:

  • Technology acquisition
  • Equipment qualification
  • Process development, scale-up and optimization
  • Package design development for Oral Solid Dose, Aseptic primary, secondary and tertiary packaging system
  • Technology transfer
  • Qualification of packaging components from alternate sources

You have 10 or more years of experience leading highly effective technical teams, developing people and in particular technical capabilities.  

You have experience in global product launches and the associated CMC regulatory requirements along with advanced knowledge of cGMP/GLP regulations, ICH, FDA CFRs.

You have strong organizational, problem solving, project-management, decision-making, judgment, and team-oriented skills.

You have good organizational, communication and presentation skills, effective project and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
